Adana is the sixth largest city in Turkey, established in the Çukurova Plain between the Seyhan and Ceyhan Rivers at the foot of the Taurus Mountains in southern Turkey, dating back to 6000 BC, offering a unique experience with its historical cities, colourful nature, clear beaches and the clean air of the Taurus Mountains.
Adana is the oldest city name still in use. The name Adana, which is mentioned as Adaniia or Ataniia in Hittite cuneiform tablets, is first encountered in the letter of the Hittite King Telipu in 1150 BC.
As an important city of ancient Cilicia, Adana's fertile lands and its strategic location on commercial and military routes caused it to constantly change hands between different civilisations. Home to 18 civilisations, you can visit more than 10 ancient cities all around the city, soak up the unique nature and fresh air of the highlands, and taste delicious food.
The first collective agreement in history was made in Adana in the second half of the 19th century by Ibrahim Pasha from Egypt.
